Meet the team!

It takes a strong and dedicated team to survive in our competitive and ever expanding wedding industry.
With over 105 years of combined professional experience, you can be confident knowing you are in good hands!

Malcolm Carmichael

Owner.  Full Time Photographer in Banff.  30 years’ experience.

Malcolm’s reputation precedes him.  His attention to detail, ability to help you relax in front of the camera and have fun, and his expertise in ‘capturing the moment’ makes him stand apart from the crowd.

His impressive resume includes: Director of Photography at the Winter Olympic Games in Whistler, Hotel Photographer for the G8 in Kananaskis, Official Photographer for the Canadian National Ski Team (over 25 years), Celebrity Sunshine Ski Invitational for many years, and of course over 3000 weddings in the Bow Valley.

Malcolm is a Sony Ambassador.

Sharon Carmichael

Office Manager.  Owner of Elope in Banff.  22 years in the Wedding Industry.

Sharon is likely to be the first person you speak with when you contact Alpine Peak Photography.  With her extensive knowledge of Banff and Lake Louise, she will help you determine how much photography coverage you would like on your wedding day, suggest locations, and help you plan a timeline that will ensure a fun and relaxing celebration.

Sharon loves planning smaller intimate celebrations and the Elope in Banff (EIB) team have become a big part of the Banff Wedding Photography team.  Couples come from all over the world to celebrate their marriage vows in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. For EIB, Sharon plans, meets, tours, and is present on your wedding day.  She takes care of all the details so you can relax, enjoy, and make the most of your time in the Rockies.

For larger celebrations, Sharon often accompanies Malcolm, Bryan, or Roger as their assistant on your wedding day.

Bryan White

Full Time Photographer in Banff 5+ years.

Bryan's passion for wedding photography and contagious enthusiasm ensures a fun experience on wedding day.

A strong and dedicated photographer, Bryan enjoys working closely with the EIB team.  His calm and creative personality allows couples to be themselves so he can capture their natural connection with candid and real images.

In his free time, Bryan enjoys playing in the mountains: snowboarding, mountain biking, meeting new people and playing music.

Bryan shoots with Canon equipment.

Roger Witney

Full Time Photographer in Banff for 30+ years

Roger is reliable, dependable, consistent and you can always count of him to take INCREDIBLE wedding portraits.

His expert knowledge of the mountains, weather, lighting, and locations makes him a valuable member of the Alpine Peak Photography team.  With his fun personality, crazy noises and whistles, yet calm and patient manner, Roger gets lots of requests and return clients.

Roger & Malcolm work together on larger corporate events, Canadian National Ski Team and lots of conventions.  Although they don’t work together at weddings (they are both so good, there would be a lot of duplication), it could be requested.

Roger shoots with Nikon equipment.

Drew Butler

Full time editor 3 years.  Artistic Professional Photographer.

Drew Butler is our wedding editor and has been living in Banff National Park for the past 3 years. He is originally from Toronto, but moved to Banff in 2018. Drew has a precise eye for composition and light making him an amazing photo editor. He has a passion for making the bride & groom look their very best on their special day. His editing skills mixed with Malcolm & Roger’s beautiful photographs are a recipe for success.

For each wedding, Drew edits every single image for colour, composition, and duplication.  He removes closed eyes, stray hair and cleans up skin blemishes.  He deletes people from the background, signage, fire extinguishers and the odd tattoo.  Drew selects final images, stores files, and burns USB cards.  For bridal portraits, he will add a little “glamour” to the brides close up images, just to enhance the natural features and give the bride that “magazine” look, we have found this to be very popular!

Along with photo editing, Drew has an online shop where he sells his photographs on print and canvas. The majority of his artwork is based around cityscape and street photography. Since moving out west, his portfolio has grown with some landscape and wildlife imagery. His work can be viewed at drewbutlerphoto.com/shop

When not behind the camera or editing weddings, you can find Drew skiing, golfing, hiking and exploring the Bow Valley with his partner Alanna and newborn son River.
